Gruesome murder of Abuja business woman by her online lover

Late 48-year-old Ijeoma Phillis Chiboli was gruesomely murdered by 31-year-old Tochukwu Christian Edeh known to be her lover whom she met on social media, Facebook.

The Force Public Relation Officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi was contacted concerning the case.

It all started on the 24th night of October 2022 when a heated argument began between both lovers concerning financial mismanagement. Tochukwu had sold her highlander car in May 2022.

According to the suspect,he got angry during the argument and hit her with a pistol at the ‘upper region of her body’. “I really avoided her when the car was sold then she found out and quarrelled a lot about it. When I came around that night,the argument started all over again about the car as she raised her voice, insulting me ,I got angry and hit her with a pistol”,he said.

He also stated that the car was a Toyota Camry which was sold for 1.7 million naira. The late Ijeoma and Tochukwu met in 2020 via Facebook and fell in love a year after. They also started making wedding plans as they agreed to meet their families for blessings. Tochukwu had taken the deceased to his family, although they kicked against it but later agreed since it was his choice to marry an older woman.

However, the deceased elder sister Maureen Amaka said she has never met the suspect before as she only saw him in Ijeoma’s profile. Her sister (deceased) had convinced her that she would get married soon and she (Maureen) will be dressed in an ‘Aso-ebi’ wear.

The suspect was captured by the Operatives of the Force Intelligence Response Team at Port-Harcourt where he fled to with the deceased car, phones and ATM cards.

During investigation, they found the deceased body in the toilet with a pistol and a pillow stained with blood and another pillow on the couch in the deceased living room soaked in blood. The decomposed body was there for days before discovered.

The Intelligence Response Team led by DCP Tunji Disu has been assigned by the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba to unravel the mystery behind the murder of ijeoma.

The family of Ijeoma seeks justice as the police said the suspect who is also an ex-convict will be prosecuted when investigations are completed.
