Gov. Wike promises to compensate families of slained police officers 20million naira each

Governor Nyesom Wike has promised 20million naira compensation to families of killed police officers in Oyingbo Last week.

The governor promised to restore peace to the land. All burnt police station in Oyingbo local government area will be rebuilt. Wike also vowed that he will ensure that the terrorist no longer exist in Rivers State.

Gov. Wike said this during his condolence visit to the families of slained police officers and the state commissioner of police Joseph Mokan on Wednesday.

Addressing the Oyingbo incident that happened last week in Rivers, Wike’s statement, “IPOB masterminded the killing of our gallant officers of the Nigerian Police and Army. We want to state clearly that Rivers State Government will support you to make sure that any of the perpetrators of this hideous crime does not go free. Enough is enough. You cannot continue to kill our policemen who have not done anything; who have not committed any crime,” he said.

The commissioner of Rivers, Mr Joseph Mokan said they will ensure that the IPOB group cease to exist anywhere within the State. The Police and Army have taken over all IPOB’s stronghold in Oyingbo.

Mokan explained further that the command will n IPOB has been declared a terrorist group by the Federal Government since 2017, will no longer continue to use Rivers State as launch pad for its terrorist attacks.

The commissioner also commended the Governor’s decision to commiserate with the deceased families and the command, saying the he has demonstrated he is a compassionate father of the State. Mokan said.
