In a moment that caught many off guard, the former Tottenham manager admitted it has been difficult watching his old clubs struggle. However, he made it clear that his journey is far from over.
Speaking during an interview, Postecoglou opened up about his current mindset. He stressed that his ambition remains unchanged.
“I want to win things still. I still have that drive and passion to achieve, that hasn’t changed,” he said.
Furthermore, he revealed that recent challenges have only strengthened his resolve. According to him, setbacks have become motivation.
“The fact now it’s the first time I’m coming off a bad experience that’s just more fuel for me,” he added.
Meanwhile, his next move is yet to be confirmed. However, he hinted that plans are already forming.
“I think part of it is going to be making sure that the people I work with are ready for what I’m going to deliver,” he explained.
“I know whatever it is going to be, I have this thing in my head that this will be the best one I’ve done yet,” he said.
However, one of the most emotional moments came when he spoke about Tottenham. The club has struggled since his departure.
“To watch them struggle has not been easy and it’s not the way I thought it would go,” he admitted.
Meanwhile, both Tottenham and Nottingham Forest are battling relegation. This has added pressure to an already tense season.
“They’re in a hell of a fight, relegation is massive for any club but for Tottenham, it’s a pretty big deal,” he said.
Postecoglou also believes the team can recover. However, he noted that urgent changes are needed.
“They have some fighting to do and they have the quality to get out. They need a circuit-breaker for sure.”
It is worth noting that he previously led Tottenham to Europa League success. That victory ended a long trophy drought.
However, poor league form eventually led to his exit. A short stint at Nottingham Forest also ended quickly.
