Fire Erupts at Trans-Niger Pipeline in Rivers State

A massive explosion has been reported at the Trans-Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident, which occurred on Monday night, March 17, affected a critical export pipeline responsible for transporting crude to the Bonny Terminal.

According to Vanguard, the explosion led to a raging fire at the affected section of the pipeline.

However, the exact cause of the incident remains unknown.

Authorities have yet to determine whether it was a result of technical failure or human interference.

Meanwhile, concerns have been raised regarding recent threats by militant groups, who had warned of possible attacks on oil installations in response to the Federal Government’s decision to withhold Rivers State’s allocation due to ongoing political tensions.

Security agencies are expected to launch an investigation to ascertain the cause of the explosion.
