A United States military aircraft has crashed in western Iraq during an ongoing operation linked to rising tensions with Iran. The incident has triggered concerns about the safety of several servicemen who were reportedly on board the aircraft.
According to officials, the aircraft involved was a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, a military refuelling plane used to supply fuel to other fighter jets during combat missions.
The aircraft was operating as part of Operation Epic Fury, a military campaign currently being carried out by the United States in the Middle East.

The United States Central Command confirmed that the refuelling aircraft crashed after an incident involving two aircraft operating in the same area. Officials stressed that no hostile fire had been linked to the accident. This suggests the crash may have been caused by operational or technical issues rather than enemy action.
However, the tanker aircraft eventually went down in western Iraq during the operation. Authorities are still working to determine what exactly led to the crash. Meanwhile, details about casualties or survivors have not yet been officially confirmed.
In recent weeks, the United States and Israel have carried out several strikes against Iranian-linked targets in the region. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has maintained a strong stance against Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
In a statement posted on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump described Iran as an “evil empire.” He also said the United States would continue military operations to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
At the same time, Israel has also reported new military actions connected to the conflict.
The Israel Defense Forces announced that a strike had recently targeted the Taleghan compound. According to Israel, the facility was believed to be involved in developing critical capabilities related to nuclear weapons.
However, Iran has repeatedly denied pursuing nuclear weapons programs. Meanwhile, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has outlined conditions that could lead to an end to the hostilities.
He said the fighting could stop if Iran’s “legitimate rights” were recognised. He also demanded reparations and guarantees that future attacks would not occur. However, Pezeshkian noted that final decisions on the conflict remain with Iran’s supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
The ongoing conflict has also affected global shipping and energy markets. Several vessels have recently been attacked near the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global oil shipping route.
Tankers have reportedly been struck near Iraq, while another vessel was damaged near the United Arab Emirates.
These incidents have pushed oil prices closer to $100 per barrel.
