The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a ban on the use of tinted vehicles as part of efforts to enhance security and combat lawlessness.
Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, December 3, the FCT Police Commissioner, Tunji Disu, highlighted the dangers posed by tinted glasses, noting that they often conceal criminal activities and hinder rescue efforts.
“We are clamping down on all commercial vehicles and everybody tinting their vehicles,” Disu stated.
“Tinted glass is contributing to a lot of lawlessness. A lot of the victims kidnapped that we have rescued have told us that the tinted glass made it impossible for people to know they were in distress.”
The commissioner warned residents that laws against tinted vehicles would be strictly enforced, emphasizing that no one has the right to tint their vehicles without proper authorization.
This decisive step aims to ensure safety and prevent crimes that exploit the anonymity provided by tinted windows.
