The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Nollywood production manager Anierobi Courage, popularly known as Nwa South, for allegedly assaulting a crew member on a movie set.
The incident occurred on October 28, 2025, during the filming of “Lagos to Opulence”, and has since sparked nationwide outrage within and outside the entertainment industry.
According to reports, Courage physically attacked the head of makeup, Mary Chizzy Eze, after a disagreement broke out on set.
A viral video of the incident showed the production manager slapping Mary before grabbing her by the throat, leaving the crew visibly shaken.
The footage, which quickly made rounds on social media, drew widespread condemnation from Nigerians who demanded justice and called for stricter workplace regulations in Nollywood.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Nigeria Film Crew Community (NFCC) strongly condemned the attack, describing Courage’s behaviour as “animalistic.”
The organisation also revealed that the victim had received medical attention and that Courage was in police custody.
“The production manager violently hit and strangled Mary Chizzy Eze for speaking up against unequal treatment among the crew.
While she has received medical care, he has been arrested,” the NFCC stated.
The association further urged Nollywood producers and stakeholders to take decisive action to maintain discipline and protect the welfare of film crew members.
“This level of disregard for human dignity is unacceptable. We stand firmly against all forms of abuse, assault, and crew maltreatment,” the NFCC added.
The Lagos State Police confirmed the arrest, assuring the public that investigations are ongoing and justice will be served.
