Dortmund Open Karim Adeyemi Contract Talks After Switch to Jorge Mendes

Borussia Dortmund have begun discussions over a new deal for forward Karim Adeyemi following his decision to join super-agent Jorge Mendes.

The move has surprised many, given Adeyemi’s current contract still runs until 2027.

However, Dortmund are eager to secure his long-term future amid growing interest from across Europe.

Talks are aimed at extending his stay until 2029, a step that would reflect his rising importance at the club.

The 23-year-old’s stock has grown rapidly in recent weeks.

He netted a standout goal against Juventus in the Champions League and struck again versus Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

Those performances have strengthened his leverage at the negotiation table.

According to Sky Sport, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has already held preliminary talks with Mendes.

The agent is expected to play a decisive role in shaping the structure and financial terms of any agreement.

“Mendes has reportedly assured Adeyemi he will play a key role in defining the next phase of his Dortmund career,” the report stated.

The German international has now switched representation three times in the past year, with Mendes entering the scene at a crucial moment.

Adeyemi is already one of Dortmund’s top earners, with an annual salary of around €6 million.

Any renewal would likely push him closer to the €7m bracket currently occupied by Gregor Kobel and Serhou Guirassy.

Moreover, Dortmund remain keen to reward Adeyemi’s growth while avoiding disruption to their existing wage structure.

Therefore, the balance between recognition and sustainability will be central to these talks.

Since joining the club, Adeyemi has produced 28 goals and 21 assists in 112 appearances.

His pace and finishing have made him a vital part of Edin Terzić’s setup.

Furthermore, his current form makes him one of the players to watch as Dortmund push forward in both league and European campaigns.

Karim Adeyemi contract talks are expected to intensify in the coming months.

The club aim to finalise an agreement before his current deal reaches its final two years.

The Nigerian-born German international is set to feature again this weekend when Dortmund face Mainz.
