Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Nigerian attacker Christantus Uche from Spanish side Getafe in what has been described as a major boost to their squad.
The 22-year-old joins on a one-year loan deal with an obligation to buy for a reported fee of £20 million.
Uche, who will wear the No. 12 jersey for the Eagles, is expected to fill the gap left by Eberechi Eze following his move to Arsenal last week.
Speaking shortly after signing, Uche expressed his delight at joining the Premier League side.
“This moment is unbelievable. I’m very lucky to be here today and this club is a big opportunity for me,” he told Palace’s media team.
Uche’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable.
First spotted in Spain by fifth division side Moralo CP in 2022, his talent quickly earned him a move to third-tier AD Ceuta FC.
In 2024, Getafe secured his signature, where he went on to make 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.
With Eberechi Eze’s departure to Arsenal, Palace fans were eager to see how the club would strengthen their attack.
Before linking up fully with his new teammates, Uche will join Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
