In a dramatic turn of events, the Ikorodu Magistrate Court has ordered DNA tests to determine the paternity of Liam Aloba, the son of late Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The order was given on Tuesday by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga after reviewing an application filed by Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, who is seeking clarity on the matter.
The respondent in the case is Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba.
Delivering the ruling, Magistrate Sonuga declared: “The court hereby orders that two DNA tests be conducted in accredited and recognized hospitals, one in Nigeria and the other outside Nigeria.”
The court further stressed that “both parties or their representatives must be present when the samples are collected.”
The matter has now been adjourned until November 11, 2025, for further proceedings.
In his application, Joseph Aloba emphasized that doubts over Liam’s paternity needed to be addressed once and for all.
He noted in his filing: “There remains uncertainty regarding the paternity of Master Liam Aloba and given the sensitivity of the matter, it is imperative that the paternity be conclusively settled.”
This ruling comes nearly a year after Mohbad’s tragic death in September 2023, which shocked the Nigerian entertainment industry and sparked nationwide debates, investigations, and controversies surrounding his family and legacy.
