Preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased couple lit a charcoal fire to warm the room due to cold weather, police said.

“They locked up and got suffocated by the smoke that emanated from the burning charcoal burning while fast asleep.”Although, the investigation into the incident was still in progress,Haruna-Kiyawa advised the people of the state to be careful while using fire from charcoal, urging them to always take safety measures, because harmattan season is associated with a high risk of fire outbreaks.
