Gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed why she once left Nigeria and tried to secure permanent residency abroad.
The singer said she did not want to return home, but her plans eventually failed.
Speaking at a recent event, Chidinma shared how the experience changed her direction and eventually led her back to Nigeria.
She also explained how the head of EeZee Conceptz encouraged her during that period.
According to the singer, the music executive remained the only person calling her from Nigeria while she was abroad.
His consistent encouragement helped her return and pursue gospel music.
Chidinma, who previously performed secular music, said she had been processing documents to remain abroad permanently. However, things did not go as planned.
Recalling the experience, she said:
“I travelled. I ran away from Nigeria. I was processing my papers not to come back to Nigeria, but for some reason, it didn’t work.
“While I was abroad, the CEO of Eezee Conceptz was the only one who was calling me from Nigeria. He kept encouraging me, and I found the strength to come back to Nigeria. When I came back, l asked him to give me a gospel music contract because I want to spend time with God. And he gave me a contract that even my lawyer said seemed like a charity,”

The singer also explained that her move into gospel music was not initially driven by a desire to make gospel songs.
Instead, she wanted to build a deeper relationship with God.
Her decision marked a major change in her music career, moving away from secular songs towards gospel music.
Chidinma first gained widespread recognition through secular music before embracing gospel music.
Her journey has since become an important part of her public story.
Her latest revelation offers more insight into the personal reasons behind that transition and the encouragement she received along the way.
