A tragic case has emerged in Enugu State this week as police have arrested a man over the death of his girlfriend.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Okpara Emmanuel, is now in custody, his girlfriend has only been identified so far as Chinyere.
This murder suspect case began with a disagreement between the couple, Police say the incident happened on September 19, 2026.
According to investigators, the argument centered on claims involving HIV transmission. The situation reportedly escalated quickly between the two partners.
Police said the suspect admitted to striking the woman during the dispute and died shortly after the altercation took place.
Her body was later discovered inside the suspect’s apartment, officers have since moved her remains to a mortuary for preservation.
This Enugu murder suspect case is now under deeper investigation, the State Criminal Investigation Department has taken over the matter.
Police confirmed that an autopsy will help determine further details authorities are also working to confirm the victim’s full identity.
They hope to locate and inform her family soon for now, the suspect remains in police custody.
