An accident involving a truck loaded with beer crates caused a stir at Ojuelegba, Lagos.
Several beer bottles fell onto the road after the truck collided with other vehicles.
A video from the scene showed passersby picking up some of the fallen bottles, some were also seen drinking from them.
The accident occurred around Abalti Barracks, inward Ojuelegba, It involved a Fuso truck, two vehicles and a motorcycle.
The vehicles involved included a beer truck, a Lexus Jeep, a Hyundai Jeep, and an Okada.
The collision caused several crates to fall from the truck. Bottles and spilled drinks were left across the busy road. Despite the crash, no lives were reportedly lost in the accident.
However, the scattered bottles created another danger for road users.
Some passersby reportedly moved closer to the scene to collect the fallen bottles. Others were seen putting bottles into bags.
The incident also attracted attention because some people drank from bottles recovered from the crash scene.
Broken glass remained scattered across parts of the roadway, which created an added risk for motorists, pedestrians, and other road users.
The accident also affected traffic around Ojuelegba. Traffic officials and waste management workers moved in to control the situation.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed that its officials were present at the scene.
“Our personnel are on the ground managing the situation; men of the Nigeria police are also present, while LAWMA officials are clearing the broken bottles from the roadway.
“Please drive with caution always.”
The agency advised motorists to remain careful while driving through the area.
Officials from the Nigeria Police were also present during the response; meanwhile, LAWMA workers focused on removing the broken bottles.
