At 90, Toshisuke Kanazawa has shown that age has not stopped his bodybuilding journey.
The Hiroshima-born Japanese athlete won the 85-and-over category at the All Japan Masters Bodybuilding Championship.
Kanazawa secured the victory on August 30, 2026, shortly after celebrating his 90th birthday.
The win became the 19th national bodybuilding title of his long career.
He defeated six other athletes competing in the same age category. Kanazawa first started bodybuilding when he was around 20 years old.
He later won the Mr. Japan title twice during his 20s.
However, he stepped away from competitive bodybuilding at the age of 34.
After years away from competitions, Kanazawa returned to bodybuilding around the age of 50.
He then continued competing for decades, building a remarkable record along the way.
More than 200 athletes competed across 13 age categories at this year’s championship.
Kanazawa’s latest success has again drawn attention to his long commitment to bodybuilding.
The 90-year-old bodybuilder has previously spoken about the importance of having goals.
He believes continuing to challenge himself remains important as he grows older.
His latest competition came just after reaching another major milestone in his life.

Kanazawa also hopes to remain active and healthy as he works towards reaching 100.
His journey shows how long-term dedication can keep a person connected to a passion across generations.
The 90-year-old bodybuilder now has another national title to add to his remarkable career.
