Police in Oyo State have arrested 10 suspected human-parts merchants during an intelligence-led operation across the state.
The arrests followed months of surveillance by the command’s monitoring unit, according to police authorities.
The suspects were reportedly picked up at separate locations around Iseyin and Saki during the operation.
Police spokesman DSP Olayinka Ayanlade disclosed the development in a statement issued in Ibadan on Saturday.
Following the arrests, officers searched the suspects’ hideouts and recovered suspected human body parts and charms.
The recovered items reportedly included suspected human flesh and other body parts.
Police also recovered assorted charms during the operation.
Authorities said the exhibits have been secured for forensic tests as investigations continue.
The suspects are also helping investigators trace the source and intended use of the recovered items.
Police are working to establish whether the suspects are connected to a wider network operating in the state.
The police said the investigation will help determine how the recovered items were obtained.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Oyo, Abimbola Olugbenga, assured residents of continued action against criminal activities.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and maintaining security across the state.
Authorities said efforts remain underway to locate other suspects linked to the alleged operation.
