The Accord Party has withdrawn its support for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.
The party’s National Chairman, Prof. Christopher Imumolen, announced the decision at the APC mega rally in Osogbo.
Imumolen said the party’s National Working Committee had agreed to back APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO.
He urged Accord members across Osun State to support Oyebamiji during the August 15, 2026, election.
“As Chairman of the Accord Party, and with all our National Working Committee members here present, we withdraw our support for Governor Ademola Adeleke and support AMBO.
“All our members are enjoined to vote for AMBO and the APC in Saturday’s election,” he said.
The decision came after Accord suspended its planned mega rally scheduled for Wednesday, August 12.
Imumolen linked the latest move to the party’s internal crisis and its inability to mobilise members for the event.
The Osun governorship election has therefore gained another political twist with the endorsement of the APC candidate.
At the rally, Progressives Governors’ Forum Chairman Hope Uzodinma urged Osun voters to support Oyebamiji.
“Vote AMBO, vote prosperity, vote Osun for the state to be prosperous. We 31 state governors are in the state in solidarity and to welcome the state to the fold of the progressives,” he said.
Uzodinma also urged voters to remain calm despite concerns over alleged violence.
“The party is already on the verge of victory. Vote on Saturday and don’t be intimidated by their waves of violence,” he added.
Oyebamiji promised to focus his administration on good governance and the welfare of Osun residents.
“Our government that will be elected on August 15, 2026, will be a government of the people, and we will stand on your mandate.
“No dance anymore, but strict governance. I have the mandate to touch the lives of the people of Osun,” he said.
APC leader in Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, also endorsed Oyebamiji and praised his political record.
“Let’s support Oyebamiji. His track record is there compared to how other candidates have fared,” Oyetola said.
