UK: 2026 Chevening Scholarship Applications Begin

The United Kingdom has opened applications for the 2026 Chevening Scholarships, giving talented professionals another chance to study for a fully funded master’s degree at top UK universities. The programme is open from August 4 to October 6, 2026.

The Chevening Scholarships are designed for future leaders with strong leadership skills and a passion for creating positive change. Successful applicants will also gain access to valuable global networks and career opportunities.

The scholarship, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations, supports individuals committed to sustainable development and solving global challenges.

Emma Hennessey, Head of The Scholarships Unit at the FCDO, said: “Chevening is looking for exceptional individuals who are ready to collaborate with the UK to help build a more resilient, prosperous, and sustainable future. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive cohort of global future leaders, so we are particularly interested in receiving applications from under-represented groups.”

She added: “Through access to UK education, networks, and experiences, Chevening equips future leaders with the tools and connections needed to address shared international challenges together.”

British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, Jonny Baxter, described the programme as more than financial support.

He said: “Chevening is far more than a scholarship to study in the UK. It is an opportunity to join a global network of exceptional leaders committed to creating positive change in their communities and beyond.”

He encouraged qualified applicants with a clear vision for impact to submit their applications through the official Chevening portal.

Since 1983, the programme has supported more than 60,000 professionals from over 140 countries, many of whom now hold leadership positions across government, business, academia and civil society.
