Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has received a major lifeline after Abia State Governor Alex Otti approved the first phase of her medical expenses.
The intervention came shortly after the actress publicly appealed for financial support to undergo multiple surgeries.
Governor Otti’s decision followed widespread reactions to Ngozi Nwosu’s emotional appeal. The actress recently revealed that she requires three surgeries and needs about ₦30 million to cover the full cost of her medical treatment.
The approval was confirmed by the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Okey Justice, through a post shared on X.
According to him, the governor responded promptly after learning about the actress’s condition.
“His Excellency @alexottiofr have just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills.”
The announcement has been welcomed by many within the movie industry. Moreover, it highlights growing calls for better welfare and healthcare support for veteran entertainers who have contributed greatly to Nigeria’s creative sector.
Although the governor’s intervention has eased part of the financial burden, it was explained that the payment covers only the first phase of the required treatment.

MMartins Okey Justice appealed to members of the public to extend further support.
“While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible you can.”
Furthermore, he thanked Governor Otti for responding quickly to the situation, describing the intervention as timely and compassionate.
“On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader. Ndewo sir.”
Meanwhile, Ngozi Nwosu remains one of Nollywood’s respected actresses, with decades of memorable performances that have earned her admiration across Nigeria and beyond. Consequently, many Nigerians hope she will successfully undergo the remaining surgeries and return to good health.
