Lagos Govt Breaks Silence on Traffic Plans for Tinubu’s Visit

The Lagos State Government has assured smooth movement during President Bola Tinubu’s visit. However, concerns over traffic disruptions have continued to linger across the city.

The Tinubu Lagos visit is scheduled for April 8 and 9, 2026. Meanwhile, several major projects will be commissioned during the two-day event.

Despite the high-profile nature of the visit, authorities insist roads will not be blocked unnecessarily.

Speaking during a media briefing, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, explained the government’s position.

He stated, “We are working closely with federal and state agencies to ensure that all arrangements for the President’s visit are seamless, secure, and befitting of the occasion.”

He further added, “Security, logistics, and traffic management plans are being carefully coordinated to minimise disruptions to daily activities while ensuring the safety and comfort of all participants.”

Residents have also been urged to cooperate with officials. In addition, traffic advisories and safety guidelines will be shared ahead of the visit.

Omotoso emphasized the importance of public support, saying, “We urge residents to cooperate with the authorities in adhering to traffic advisories and security guidelines that will be communicated in due course. Your understanding and support are essential to the success of this event.”

Several projects are expected to be unveiled during the visit. Among them is the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, designed to reduce traffic congestion.

Furthermore, the Lagos State Geographic Information Service Building will be inaugurated.

A major highlight is the Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle. The project includes 36 public schools and modern facilities. Meanwhile, special provisions have been made for People Living with Disabilities.

In addition, a mid-level agro-produce hub in Abijo will be launched.

“These projects have been carefully conceived and executed to address the growing needs of our population,” Omotoso noted. He added that they aim to improve mobility and social welfare.

Meanwhile, businessman Femi Otedola has praised the President’s dedication to governance. He revealed that he spent Easter Sunday with Tinubu and Aliko Dangote.

According to Otedola, discussions focused on the economy and national reforms. He noted that the President remained actively engaged despite the holiday.
