Israel Supports Trump’s Iran Ceasefire as Lebanon Conflict Escalates

Israel has backed Donald Trump’s decision to halt planned military strikes on Iran.

The US Iran ceasefire agreement, reached just hours before a looming deadline, was expected to ease tensions across the region.

Under the deal, Iran agreed to allow safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, this key shipping route is vital for global oil supply and trade stability.

Talks are expected to begin in Pakistan, where efforts will be made to find a lasting solution. Furthermore, mediators hope the pause will create space for diplomacy and reduce immediate risks.

In a statement, Israel expressed conditional support for the agreement. It noted that backing depends on Iran taking immediate steps to reopen the strait and halt attacks.

The statement stressed the need for Iran to stop actions against the United States, Israel, and other nations. In addition, Israel reaffirmed its stance on limiting Iran’s military capabilities.

Israel clearly stated that the ceasefire does not extend to the country, despite earlier suggestions.

This position contradicts comments made by Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. He had earlier indicated that the truce would apply across all affected areas, including Lebanon.

Meanwhile, tensions in Lebanon continue to rise. Hezbollah has launched rocket attacks, which have been met with Israeli airstrikes and military action.

Authorities say more than 1,500 people have been killed in the ongoing violence. Therefore, the exclusion of Lebanon from the agreement raises fears of continued instability.

Israel has consistently viewed Iran as a major security threat. Moreover, it had earlier encouraged stronger US involvement in the conflict.
