Zamfara Chief of Staff Escapes as Gunmen Ambush Convoy

Gunmen launched a daring attack on a convoy in Zamfara State, leaving occupants shaken but unharmed.

The Zamfara convoy attack occurred on Thursday evening as the Chief of Staff, identified as Lugga, was returning to Gusau after an official engagement.

Moreover, the attackers reportedly struck with precision, emerging suddenly from both sides of the road. According to available details, the Zamfara convoy attack happened around 6:16 p.m. near Kucheri village. The convoy was said to be carrying the chief of staff, his driver, and two other occupants.

However, the situation escalated when the assailants opened fire directly at the vehicle. A bullet pierced through the windshield, narrowly missing the driver. In addition, another attacker reportedly moved closer to the vehicle and attempted to fire again. Fortunately, the weapon failed to discharge at that critical moment.

“The incident occurred at about 6:16 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2026 near Kucheri village while Lugga was returning to Gusau from an official engagement.”

Despite the intensity of the attack, a swift response by the driver proved crucial.

Meanwhile, all occupants escaped without injuries, a development many have described as nothing short of miraculous.

“A bullet reportedly pierced the vehicle’s windshield and narrowly missed the driver, while another attacker attempted to fire at close range but the weapon failed to discharge.”

Furthermore, the escape has been seen as a combination of quick thinking and sheer luck.

However, authorities are expected to review security measures in the affected area.  Increased patrols and surveillance may be introduced to prevent similar incidents.
