Galatasaray Star Victor Osimhen Set to Return in Protective Gear After Hand Surgery

Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is preparing for a comeback after undergoing surgery for a hand fracture sustained during a UEFA Champions League clash.

The Super Eagles forward, 27, collided with Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konaté in the Round of 16, resulting in the injury that kept him off the pitch.

According to Turkish journalist Arda Özkurt, “If Victor Osimhen’s treatment process progresses as planned, he can wear the jersey with a special protective splint if needed.”

Osimhen’s rehabilitation is projected to take about six weeks, meaning he could be back in action toward the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray fans are hopeful he can participate in the Istanbul derby against Fenerbahçe on April 26, depending on how quickly he recovers.

The striker is no stranger to protective equipment, having previously worn a mask following cheekbone surgery in 2021.

This experience is expected to help him adapt to the new arm gear and continue contributing to the team without compromising his safety.

This season, Victor Osimhen injury recovery has not slowed him significantly, as he has already netted 19 goals and provided seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

In the UEFA Champions League, he recorded seven goals and three assists before Galatasaray’s elimination.

Galatasaray leads the Turkish Super Lig by four points, and Osimhen’s return is considered vital to securing the league title.

“The special protective splint will allow him to play while minimizing risk,” Özkurt added, emphasizing that the striker’s recovery is on track.
