The announcement indicated that the decision forms part of the administration’s strategy to reposition the civil service. Officials believe the changes will encourage stronger discipline and better performance across government institutions.

Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his work while in office. The government acknowledged his contributions during his time in the role.

According to the statement released by Dawakin-Tofa, the governor extended his goodwill to the former official.

“We wish him the best in his future endeavours and pray for his continued success in all aspects of life,” the statement read.

Furthermore, the government quickly announced an interim leadership arrangement to ensure continuity in the state civil service.

Governor Yusuf directed Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu-Maimota, who currently serves as the Permanent Secretary for Administration and General Services at the Cabinet Office, to assume the role in an acting capacity.

As a result, she will oversee the responsibilities of the office pending further decisions regarding a substantive appointment.

Officials said the transition is expected to be immediate in order to maintain stability within government operations.

Consequently, the outgoing Head of Service has been instructed to transfer all official responsibilities to the acting head without delay.

Moreover, officials believe that improving efficiency within the public sector will enhance the delivery of services to residents across the state.

The administration has repeatedly stated that civil service reforms remain one of its key priorities.

Therefore, leadership adjustments within the public service are expected to play a role in achieving those goals.
