Akor Adams Admits Missed Chances After Scoring in Sevilla Draw

Sevilla striker Akor Adams has openly admitted he expected more from himself after scoring in his team’s 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano in La Liga.

The Nigerian forward found the net early in the match, however he later expressed disappointment that Sevilla could not secure a victory.

The match was played on Sunday at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán Stadium. Adams gave Sevilla the lead in the 13th minute with a well-taken goal. Nevertheless, the advantage was short-lived as Rayo Vallecano responded in the second half.

The Akor Adams Sevilla goal was significant because it ended a short scoring drought for the Nigerian striker. It was his first goal in six matches for the Spanish club.

Meanwhile, the goal also improved his season statistics. Adams now has seven goals and three assists in 22 La Liga appearances. However, the striker admitted that he believes his performance this season could have been better. Despite contributing to the team, he feels more goals should have been scored.

After the match, Adams reflected on the importance of every point at this stage of the season.

“I think every point is important at this stage of the season. We work hard to get them. We got a point, but there are many things to work on and improve to reach our goal of getting three points,” Adams said.

Moreover, he accepted personal responsibility for the missed opportunities during the game. According to him, several situations could have helped Sevilla extend their lead.

“Yes, we’re happy to have gotten a point, but not entirely, because I also take responsibility. There were many situations that could have put us ahead. We’ll just work on that and we’ll be better next time.”

Meanwhile, Rayo Vallecano returned strongly after the halftime break. The visitors equalised in the 50th minute through Alfonso Espino. The defender’s goal cancelled out the Akor Adams Sevilla goal, leaving both teams level for the remainder of the match.

Furthermore, both sides created additional chances in the final stages of the game. However, neither team managed to score a winning goal before the final whistle. Despite his individual contribution, Adams emphasised that team success remains his biggest priority.

“For me, the most important thing is to win with Sevilla. I work hard every day to win matches,” he said.

“Yes, scoring goals is my job, but at this stage of the season it doesn’t matter if Kike scores or if Lucien scores. In the end, we’re a team.”

In addition, the striker admitted he remains unsatisfied with his current goal tally.

“We need to get points. But seven goals… I think I should have scored more. I’m grateful to God, but I’m not satisfied right now.”

Meanwhile, Sevilla continues its push for stronger results in the closing stages of the La Liga campaign.
