In a moment that signals a new direction for Nigeria’s security leadership, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday swore in Tunji Disu as the 23rd Inspector-General of Police. The ceremony took place at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.
Moreover, the swearing-in comes at a time when security concerns dominate public discourse across the country.
The event was attended by ministers and senior government officials.
The Tunji Disu swearing-in as IGP was administered personally by President Tinubu. The oath officially confirmed Disu as the substantive Inspector-General of Police.

At the same ceremony, six commissioners of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission were also sworn in. In addition, two commissioners of the Federal Civil Service Commission took their oaths of office.
The simultaneous swearing-in of RMAFC and FCSC commissioners suggests coordination across governance structures.
These appointments are seen as part of broader institutional strengthening.
Disu’s confirmation as the 23rd IGP places him at the center of ongoing security reforms. His leadership is expected to shape policing strategies ahead of future national milestones.
