Senator Orji Kalu has made a bold declaration ahead of the 2027 general elections. The Abia North lawmaker said Abia State would be delivered to the All Progressives Congress.
His statement has stirred fresh political conversations across the South East.
The former Abia State governor spoke during his New Year visit to the Ebonyi APC chairman.
The visit took place in Ekoli, Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Kalu said all available political strength would be deployed for victory. According to him, the APC must reclaim Abia from the Labour Party.
“I will support President Bola Tinubu and the APC gubernatorial candidate in the elections. I will put my heart on the field to ensure that the APC wins landslide in Abia at the election,” Kalu said.
The comment has been viewed as a clear warning to opposition parties.
However, Kalu admitted he maintains a personal relationship with Governor Alex Otti.
He stressed that friendship would not affect his political goal.
“The incumbent governor, Dr Alex Oti, is my friend, but I am not discussing friendship in politics, only the total victory of the APC in the elections,” he added.

The senator also shifted attention to national security concerns. He urged governors to take responsibility for safety in their states.
Moreover, he said the burden should not rest only on President Tinubu.
“When I was Abia governor, I ensured total security of lives and property. There were no cases of kidnapping or other serious crimes in Abia at a time when other states were battling severe insecurity,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kalu praised Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru. He said peace and order have been sustained under his leadership. Furthermore, he encouraged other state leaders to adopt similar methods.
Kalu explained that his New Year visit was based on trust and loyalty. He described Stanley Okoro-Emegha as dependable and committed.
“He is an embodiment of loyalty and someone you can trust with your life,” Kalu said.
In addition, he recalled mentoring Okoro Emegha from childhood. He said loyalty was a key lesson he passed on.
“I told him to give his principal 100 per cent loyalty,” he added.
