Popular Nigerian businessman Obi Cubana has openly urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to help secure the release of detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Cubana’s message, shared on his social media pages, arrived at a time when national anxiety is rising.
Insecurity, economic pressure, and social tension have become daily concerns for many citizens.
Moreover, the businessman’s respected public image has made his plea even more notable.
According to Cubana, he has joined other notable Nigerians in meeting with top political figures to discuss pressing national concerns.
Meanwhile, he said the mood across the South-East has grown more emotional, especially with the recent troubling events across the country.
Cubana highlighted several disturbing incidents that have put Nigeria “in a worrying mood.” He referenced the recent designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern by the United States, repeated student kidnappings, attacks on religious centres, the killing of a Brigadier General, and the current sentencing situation involving Nnamdi Kanu.
These issues, he said, have created an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty.

He stressed that the call from the Igbo community remains unwavering.
He stated, “One thing is very clear: no Igbo man or woman will have peace if MNK does not regain his freedom, and Ala Igbo will never be the same again.”
Furthermore, he noted that emotions are high but united toward one goal. “Tempers are high, but we all want MNK out, and we will never rest until he is free.”
Cubana added that while he is deeply involved in business, from real estate ventures to leisure industries like the golf club circles he frequents, national peace remains his priority.
Therefore, he urged leaders to embrace dialogue rather than conflict. “Constructive agitations remain the bedrock upon which great societies are built, but solutions will only be found at the negotiation table,” he said.
In addition, some political watchers say Cubana’s influence among young Nigerians could shape broader public engagement on the matter.
