Tinubu Orders Withdrawal of All Cases Against Me — Senator Natasha Akpoti

Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), to withdraw all cases filed against her by the Federal Government.

The senator made this known during a live Facebook broadcast on Tuesday after immigration officers allegedly stopped her from travelling abroad and confiscated her international passport.

According to her, the directive to seize her passport came from Senate President Godswill Akpabio, despite the President’s intervention to clear her name.

Senator Natasha expressed shock over the development, insisting that the President had already asked for all politically motivated cases against her to be withdrawn.

“There was no order,” she said. “Yes, I know I have two Federal Government cases against me, of which the President of Nigeria instructed the Attorney-General of the Federation to cancel, to withdraw the cases.”

She further explained that President Tinubu personally intervened after acknowledging that the charges were politically driven.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu actually spoke to Godswill Akpabio to terminate all the cases against me because he admitted, he agreed that they were politically witch-hunting me with cases.

So there is no reason why my passport should be withheld at the international airport,” she said angrily.

In her live video, the senator showed the immigration officers allegedly holding on to her passport for over twenty minutes.

“Is Godswill Akpabio so important? Why is he overruling boundaries?” she questioned. “Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has instructed the Comptroller-General of Customs to deny me exit, to withhold my passport. This is wrong.”

This is not the first time Senator Natasha has faced travel restrictions.

Earlier this year, the Federal Government filed new charges against her at the Federal High Court in Abuja, reigniting legal battles that have trailed her political career.

The new case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/195/25, was filed on May 22, 2025, shortly after another case (CR/297/25) was instituted at the FCT High Court.

Both cases are linked to alleged statements made by the senator that reportedly damaged the reputation of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

Meanwhile, reactions have continued to trail the viral broadcast, with many Nigerians demanding clarity from both the Presidency and the Senate leadership over the reported order.
