Nicki Minaj Axes Album Release, Accuses Jay-Z

Fans of Nicki Minaj were left stunned on Wednesday, October 15, after the rapper announced that she will no longer release her long-awaited sixth studio album.

In a series of emotional posts on X (formerly Twitter), Minaj blamed Jay-Z, also known as Sean Carter, for the sudden decision.

The 41-year-old rapper, known for her bold personality and loyal fanbase the Barbz had previously confirmed that the album was set for release in March 2026.

However, she has now revealed that the project has been completely scrapped.

“OK, I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music. Hope you’re happy now @sc. Bye, Barbz. Love you for life,” she wrote, tagging Jay-Z’s official account.

Just hours before her official announcement, Minaj hinted that external forces were working against her, suggesting that her creative freedom was being stifled.

“They don’t want me to put out music. Me winning makes them feel like they lost. They’re right. However, it didn’t have to be this way,” she tweeted.

She went on to add that certain industry figures knew how successful her upcoming project could be.

“Lots of ppl part ways in business. They know how successful my next album is going to be. Tried to sign Wayne, Drake, me.”

The statement appeared to reference Roc Nation, Jay-Z’s entertainment company, and its long-standing influence in the music industry.

Nicki also made pointed references to Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez, implying that there had been attempts to repair relations with her team.

“They came BEGGING the QUEEN for a tour & album & I said NOPE!!!!! LMFAO. Wanted to patch it up. They needed help from the QUEEN & the BARBZ,” she posted.

While Jay-Z has not responded publicly, the rapper’s decision to tag him directly has intensified fan debates online.

Some have suggested that business disagreements may have led to the fallout, while others believe her tweets could reflect personal frustrations with the industry.

Many called for Minaj to reconsider her decision, while others demanded clarity from Jay-Z’s camp.

Moreover, her announcement comes shortly after a public Twitter feud with Cardi B, reigniting speculation that the rapper may be under pressure both personally and professionally.
