Rúben Amorim has revealed his ambition to remain at the club for the next two decades. Despite leading United to their worst league finish in more than 50 years, the Portuguese coach says he believes he’s the right man for the job.
His first season saw only seven wins from 27 Premier League matches, ending the campaign in 15th place, but Amorim insists the story has just begun.
In an interview with ESPN, Amorim spoke about his challenging debut and long-term vision. “I want to stay for 20 years. That’s my goal, and I genuinely believe it’s possible,” he stated.
When Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag last November, expectations were high.

Acknowledging the difficult run, Amorim admitted, “I know I didn’t succeed last year, but I’m ready to start again. Results are what matter most we all know that.”
His words reflect a strong sense of accountability.
Managers rarely speak about spending two decades at one club, especially after a poor first year.
However, Amorim appears to be thinking differently. “Something always happens. Sometimes I’ll get lucky — I’ve been very lucky throughout my coaching career,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the team will eventually return to form, saying, “I have no doubt we’ll succeed.”
Moreover, he stressed that Manchester United’s history and supporters are priceless assets. “Some things can’t be bought with money and this club has those things: history, passionate supporters, and yes, financial power.”
The Manchester United manager has clearly set his sights on the long haul. Whether or not his vision becomes reality remains to be seen, but it’s evident he’s not walking away from the challenge.
