“Who are these people in this coalition? They’ve moved from one party to another – does that mean they’ve changed or have anything new to offer Nigerians?” Makinde questioned.

The governor maintained that the PDP in the Southwest is strong and not threatened by any emerging coalitions.

“Coalition is not a threat to PDP. We want the world to know that PDP in the Southwest is united. We’re together,” he added.

Meanwhile, the meeting also addressed concerns over governance issues in the region.

Notably, PDP leaders condemned the withholding of local government funds in Osun State, describing it as unconstitutional and damaging to the people’s well-being.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, represented by his deputy Kola Adewusi, also reaffirmed loyalty to the PDP and distanced himself from any coalition speculations.

In addition, a communiqué signed by the PDP’s Southwest Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, praised both Makinde and Adeleke for their consistent efforts toward sustaining the party’s influence and unity.

“The PDP in the Southwest remains intact and focused,” the statement read, urging all party members to stay united as the national convention approaches.

Furthermore, the party reiterated that it remains open to partnerships with Nigerians who share its values and vision for national recovery.

“Our Party remains open to working with other well-meaning like-minded citizens in the collective effort to rescue our nation from the stranglehold of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” it stated.

The PDP also expressed optimism ahead of state elections in Oyo, Ogun, and Lagos, stating that it is the preferred political party in the region.

“We are confident that the PDP as a Party of choice in the South West and Nigeria at large will record sweeping victory in the coming elections,” the party declared.

Moreover, the meeting addressed the current state of the country, pointing out rising economic hardship and insecurityunder the APC-led administration.

It concluded with a call to all Nigerians to remain hopeful.
