Nigerian football sensation, Victor Osimhen, has finally opened up about the real reason behind his signature face mask a topic that has sparked curiosity among fans worldwide.
In a recent interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, the Napoli striker revealed that his mask isn’t a fashion statement, but a protective cover for a metal implant in his face.
The injury, he explained, required urgent surgery following a brutal on-pitch collision.
Osimhen recounted the terrifying moment and how medical professionals had to act swiftly. “The doctor came and said we have to do surgery, and I have to do it as quickly as possible,” he revealed.
According to him, a fragment had to be removed from his jaw during the procedure.
The result was a complex operation that led to the insertion of an iron plate to support his facial structure.
“I have iron in my face,” he added, noting that the decision to undergo the procedure wasn’t easy, but it was necessary for his safety and career.
