Popular social media activist, Verydarkman, has broken his silence following a 48-hour ultimatum issued by a Northern youth leader.
The warning was made by Abdul Danbature, who claims to be the president of the Northern Youths.
He demanded that the activist apologize to the Sultan of Sokoto over his recent reaction to a viral video.
The video showed the Sultan allegedly referring to social media as a “terrorist organization,” a statement that triggered a strong response from Verydarkman.
However, rather than apologizing, Verydarkman responds to the apology ultimatum with harsh criticism, stating that his message was misunderstood.
In a video posted online, the activist addressed both the Arewa Youths and their president, clarifying his earlier remarks.
“First of all, to all the Arewa youths that are offended by the video that I made and to this president that is offended, first of all I really want to apologize that a lot of you are illiterates that you don’t even understand anything, especially you [the youth president],” he said.
Furthermore, he questioned the youth president’s authority to issue such a demand, emphasizing the reach of his own influence.
“Secondly you have the audacity as the president of the Arewa youths to give the president of the whole Nigerian youths 48 hours, you no fear,” he continued.
“You, your jurisdiction na just the Arewa and North. My jurisdiction na the whole Nigeria, you no fear me.”
The comment has since gone viral, drawing mixed reactions from followers online.
Some supported Verydarkman’s stance, with one user, peaceful_heart_love, commenting, “I love this VDM, he always speaks his minds.”
Another user, kcee_thailand, simply added, “Yes, as it should be…Alora for Alora.”
Not everyone agreed though. A user with the handle kelv_in3018 wrote, “But honestly, who made VDM the whole Nigerian youth president? Una do election without allowing me to vote.”
Meanwhile, a few users focused their attention on the broader message.
It appears that Verydarkman responds to the apology ultimatum not to create conflict, but to shift the lens through which the issue is being viewed.
