The President of the Northern Youths has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to online activist, Verydarkman, demanding an apology for his statement against the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar.
This development has stirred attention across social media, as many observers believe that respect for traditional rulers must be upheld to preserve national unity.
The call came after the Sultan described social media as a “terrorist organization,” urging the government to take strong measures against its influence.
His statement sparked widespread reactions, one of which came from Verydarkman, who strongly opposed the Sultan’s comment.
In his video response, Verydarkman criticized the Sultan for what he called an “emotional” approach to social media regulation.

He argued that many Nigerians have used the platform for positive change and growth.
Furthermore, he insisted that his bad experience with social media should not cloud the broader benefits of the platform.
According to the youth leader, the Sultan’s position should not be questioned publicly in such a tone.
Ambassador Abdul DanBature, President of Northern Nigerian Youths, responded to the activist’s remarks in a video.
He expressed displeasure over the tone used and called for an immediate apology.
He stated, “My name is Ambassador Abdul DanBature, the president of Northern Nigerian Youths.
I want to quickly call on the attention of Verydarkman based on the comment he made against our father our royal leader the Sultan of Sokoto.

We want Verydarkman to quickly withdraw his statement and apologize to the Sultan of Sokoto and so we the Northern Nigerians are giving Verydarkman 48 hours for him to do that. Thank you.”
The statement has sparked fresh conversations about freedom of speech, cultural values, and the limits of public criticism.
However, some have noted that while free expression is important, it must be balanced with respect, especially when addressing revered traditional figures.
