Pascal Dozie, Diamond Bank Founder, Passes Away at 86

Pascal Dozie, a respected Nigerian entrepreneur and business leader, has passed away at the age of 86.

Sources close to the family confirmed that Dozie died after a prolonged battle with age-related illness.

His death marks the end of a remarkable career that significantly impacted Nigeria’s business landscape.

Dozie was widely recognized for his groundbreaking work in the banking and telecommunications sectors.

He is perhaps best known for founding Diamond Bank, a once-prominent financial institution that played a major role in Nigeria’s banking industry before it was acquired by Access Bank.

In addition, he served as the chairman of MTN Nigeria, where his leadership greatly contributed to the telecommunications company’s expansion in Nigeria.

Born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, Dozie was a man of many talents.

His educational journey took him to the prestigious London School of Economics, where he earned a degree in Economics.

He later pursued a master’s in Administrative Science at City University in London.

Dozie’s educational foundation and extensive professional experience enabled him to build a legacy of excellence across multiple industries.

Furthermore, Dozie was the founder of the African Development Consulting Group, which worked with prominent clients such as Nestlé and Pfizer.

His leadership extended beyond banking and consulting; he also served as the chairman of Pan-Atlantic University, an institution dedicated to providing quality higher education in Nigeria.

Dozie’s contributions to Nigeria’s banking and telecommunications sectors earned him widespread recognition, including the prestigious National Award of the Order of the Niger (OON), which was given in acknowledgment of his substantial impact on the country’s development.

He is survived by his wife, Chinyere Dozie, and five children, along with numerous relatives.

His death has left a void in both the business community and his family, who are deeply mourning his loss.
