French Women Rise Against Fascism in Powerful International Women’s Day Protest

Women in France have taken a bold stand against the rise of fascism, authoritarianism, and misogyny, making their voices heard during the International Women’s Day march in Paris.

The demonstration, led by the activist group Femen, specifically targeted key political figures such as U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

The protest served as a response to the growing wave of far-right ideologies spreading across Europe and the world.

History has shown that when oppressive regimes take hold, women and children often suffer the most.

Therefore, the women of France, known for their resilience and willingness to fight for justice, have once again taken to the streets in resistance.

During the march, members of Femen expressed their concerns over the political climate and its impact on women’s rights.

The group denounced what they described as the dangerous influence of far-right politics, which threatens hard-earned freedoms and gender equality.

Thousands of women and men take to the streets of Toulouse, France, on March 8, 2025, for International Women’s Day. This year, the motto addresses sexism, the far-right, Trump, and sexual violence. One theme of the protest is about U.S. President D. Trump, who bars words like ‘woman, women, gender, transgender, sexism, machism, etc.’ from governmental websites. Trump also terminates the D.E.I. (diversity, equity, and inclusion) programs and demands that corporations cut all DEI initiatives. Protesters aim to raise awareness about sexism, machism, and the difference in rights between men and women in society. Protesters also denounce rape, sexual violence, and violence towards women. One of the major concerns raised was the influence of U.S. politics on global affairs.

According to activists, the rise of white nationalism and authoritarianism in America is contributing to instability worldwide.

A spokesperson for RefuseFascism.org, an organization based in Oakland, California, highlighted these concerns in a statement:

“It is Trump blaming plane crashes on DEI. It is JD Vance denigrating women who don’t have children. And these towering misogynists have the audacity to claim their attacks on trans people are in the name of ‘protecting women’.”

The protest did not just focus on the U.S., but also on Russia and Italy, where activists believe political leaders are imposing restrictive policies that undermine democracy and human rights.

The International Women’s Day protest in Paris is part of a larger global movement advocating for equality and justice.

Women worldwide are standing up against policies that seek to diminish their freedoms.
