Lekki Building Collapse Claims Lives, Leaves Many Injured

A tragic incident has shaken Lekki Phase 1, Lagos State, following the collapse of a building under construction on Oriwu Street.

The devastating event, which occurred around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, resulted in multiple casualties, leaving residents in shock and raising concerns about construction safety in the city.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, working tirelessly to rescue those trapped beneath the rubble.

According to Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, “Two bodies have been recovered,” while efforts to locate any remaining victims continue.

Meanwhile, security personnel have been deployed to maintain order and assist in the rescue operations.

In a remarkable display of quick intervention, 14 individuals were successfully pulled from the debris and immediately transported to the Lagos Island General Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Their conditions remain unknown, as doctors work to stabilize them.

However, concerns have been raised over the safety measures adhered to during the construction of the ill-fated structure.

Authorities have yet to determine the exact cause of the collapse, but investigations are currently underway.
