Mr. Kayode Adewale, a mathematics teacher at Imagbon/Imaka Comprehensive High School, Ogun State, has earned a place among the top 50 finalists for the 2025 Global Teacher Prize, an achievement that has brought pride to his school, community, and the entire nation.
The announcement was made on Wednesday through a statement published on the prize’s official website. 
Adewale, who teaches in a semi-urban area where most students come from low-income farming families, has been lauded for revolutionizing classroom learning.
Recognizing the socio-economic challenges his students face, such as limited access to quality resources, Adewale has transformed their educational experience by integrating culturally relevant teaching methods.
“By using local languages like Yoruba and Hausa in his lessons, he made complex mathematical concepts relatable and accessible to his students,” the statement noted.
The educator’s teaching approach combines Culturally Relevant Pedagogy with Digital Literacy Education, ensuring that his students see technology as a tool for empowerment.
He introduced platforms such as the Technology-Assisted Management Solution (TAIMS) and educational apps like Inquiry Learning Space (ILS) and PhET simulation.
These tools have not only enhanced academic performance but also prepared students with critical digital skills for the 21st century.
“Through his innovative teaching strategies, Adewale has fostered collaborative virtual study groups and hands-on problem-solving, significantly improving his students’ performance in national and regional exams,” the organizers stated.
Adewale’s influence goes beyond the classroom.
As the founder of the Transformation1090 Initiative, he has trained over 30,000 teachers to integrate technology into their practices.
Additionally, his Ogun517GoToSpace program has inspired interest in space science among students and educators, with collaborations involving global professionals, including NASA experts.
His commitment to sustainability is also evident through tree-planting initiatives and climate change simulations, which encourage students to take an active role in environmental conservation.
His efforts have earned him national recognition, including being named the 2nd runner-up for Best Teacher in Nigeria and receiving awards for excellence in mathematics education.
