A middle-aged woman, Monalisa Osayi, has been arraigned before Court 3 of the Eti-Osa Magistrate Court for assaulting an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), MA-II Habeeb Ndaman Sayidi, during a routine patrol on December 7, 2024.
The incident, captured in a viral video, led to Osayi’s arrest on December 15, following a week-long effort by the RS2.19 Lekki Unit Command to ensure her accountability.
Osayi was charged with assault and breach of public peace, to which she pleaded not guilty.
Presiding Magistrate Oyaniyi FP granted Osayi bail under stringent conditions, including a ₦100,000 payment and two family-member sureties with valid tax clearances.
However, pending the fulfillment of these requirements, she was remanded at Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison.
The court has adjourned the case to January 8, 2025, for further proceedings.
Authorities emphasized that such acts of disrespect against civil servants will not be tolerated, urging the public to accord officers the respect they deserve while on lawful duty.
