President Bola Tinubu will depart France on Monday, December 2, for Cape Town, South Africa, to co-chair the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) alongside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
According to presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, the high-level meeting, scheduled for December 3, will focus on bilateral, regional, and international matters of mutual interest.
The Bi-National Commission, established in 1999, will feature discussions across eight working groups, covering critical areas such as trade, defense, energy, migration, and social development.
“Officials of both nations will also sign several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation,” Onanuga noted.
This meeting builds on the progress made during the last BNC session in Abuja in 2021 and follows earlier commitments from the June 2024 meeting between Tinubu and Ramaphosa.
Citizens are optimistic that this collaboration will deliver tangible benefits, particularly in trade, security, and economic development.
As both leaders deliberate on fostering stronger ties, there is widespread anticipation that these efforts will create opportunities and improve living standards in both nations.
“This BNC is a strategic move to advance shared goals and deepen our partnership,” Onanuga added.
