West Ham striker Michail Antonio is recovering in hospital after undergoing surgery for a lower limb fracture sustained in a horrifying car crash.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Epping Forest, Essex, when Antonio lost control of his silver Ferrari, leaving him trapped in the passenger seat for over 45 minutes as emergency crews worked to free him.
In a statement, West Ham confirmed Antonio’s condition, saying, “Michail will continue to be monitored in hospital over the coming days.
Everyone at the club wishes Michail a speedy recovery and expresses sincere gratitude to the emergency services and medical team who have shown exceptional care.”
Witnesses at the scene described Antonio as disoriented, reportedly asking, “Where am I? What’s going on? What car am I in?” Samuel Woods, a passerby, noted, “The car smelled of petrol, and Antonio seemed unable to process what had happened.”
