The paternity dispute involving Liam, the son of late singer Mohbad, took another turn after the child’s mother, Wunmi, released a new statement addressing fresh allegations that she has been avoiding the DNA test requested by Mohbad’s father.
The renewed accusations surfaced shortly after the singer’s father confirmed that the DNA court case was reopened and that Mohbad would not be buried until the process was completed.
The tension around the Mohbad DNA case has continued to grow online, especially on platforms like Wace, where many followers have shared strong opinions.
The bereaved grandfather has repeatedly questioned Liam’s paternity and returned to court seeking a legal order that would compel Wunmi to present the child for testing.
Moreover, public conversations have often suggested that she has been delaying the entire process.
However, in a statement posted through her legal team on Instagram, Wunmi insisted that she has not stalled the case.
She explained that the real delays have come from her father-in-law’s actions.
According to her, the case resumed in court yesterday, and Mohbad’s father requested an order insisting that the DNA test be carried out in two hospitals selected by him alone.

Wunmi explained that the court rejected the request.
She stated that the judge struck out the application and ruled that the DNA procedure must be conducted in two neutral medical centres.
These hospitals must also be independent and not connected to either party.
Furthermore, the ruling was seen as an effort to ensure fairness and remove any concerns of bias.
She noted that this back-and-forth has been one of the major reasons the process has dragged on for months.
“The application was struck out, and the court ruled that the DNA must be done in two neutral and independent hospitals where neither party has personal interests,” she emphasised.
She also added that she remains ready to follow the court’s direction once the new facilities are confirmed.
In addition, Wunmi stressed that she only wants a transparent process and has never refused to participate.
Her lawyers expressed similar views, noting that she is prepared to cooperate fully with the court’s plan.
Meanwhile, reactions online continue to build as many Nigerians question why the issue has remained unresolved this long.
