Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky Congratulates Tinubu, Plans To Strengthen Relations

Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelensky, has congratulated Nigeria’s President elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his victory in the just concluded presidential election last Saturday.

Volodymyr Zelensky sent his congratulatory message via his social media page on Thursday. A day after Tinubu was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to Ukrainian President: “Congratulations to @officialABAT on winning the Nigerian presidential election. I look forward to close cooperation. I’m convinced that 🇺🇦-🇳🇬 bilateral interaction will be strengthened. 🇺🇦 is ready to work together to overcome global challenges, including threats to food security!”

The APC presidential candidate was declared winner by INEC in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

70-year-old Tinubu won the fierce battle, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and claimed the highest number of votes at — 8,794,726, almost two million votes more than his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

76-year-old Atikububakar, who failed to win on his sixth attempt to contest for president, got 6,984,520 votes, while the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, who succeeded in taking the 3rd position in his first attempt to contest for president, got 6,101,533.
