Tragedy struck on Thursday evening near the Kara Bus Stop along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, as two pedestrians lost their lives in a hit-and-run accident.
The Ogun State Police Command Spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating that the victims were attempting to cross the expressway when they were struck by speeding, unidentified vehicles.
“The accident occurred at a point on the Isheri-Olofin corridor when the victims attempted to cross the expressway without a thorough view of the speeding vehicles,” Odutola explained.
“The vehicles rammed into the two victims and sped off. Their bodies have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.”
She added that the victims were confirmed dead upon arrival at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, and efforts are ongoing to identify them and track down the fleeing drivers.
This incident serves as a painful reminder of the need for pedestrians to exercise caution and for authorities to ensure adequate road safety measures.
