In a bold move to streamline federal operations, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has appointed tech billionaire Elon Musk and conservative activist Vivek Ramaswamy to spearhead a new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Trump announced that this department’s goal will be to “dismantle government bureaucracy” and dramatically cut back on regulations and wasteful expenditures.
Describing the initiative as potentially “The Manhattan Project of our time,” Trump emphasized that Musk and Ramaswamy’s work would be critical to his administration’s “Save America Movement,” aiming to create “an entrepreneurial approach to government never seen before.”
Elon Musk responded enthusiastically to the appointment, underscoring the department’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
“All actions of the Department of Government Efficiency will be posted online for maximum transparency,” Musk wrote, adding that the public would have an active role in identifying both wasteful and essential expenditures.
In another post, he remarked, “Either we get government efficient or America goes bankrupt. That’s what it comes down to.”
The department, set to complete its work by July 4, 2026, is raising hopes for a more efficient government and a model that could inspire other administrations worldwide.
