“You have made the nation proud. Keep soaring. Don’t stop until you bring the trophy home,” Tinubu said.

“Your incredible #WAFCON2025 semi-finals victory over South Africa today was nothing short of superlative. It was a magnificent display of grit, talent, and the indomitable Nigerian spirit.”

Tuesday’s match was tense from the start, with both sides showing great urgency.

South Africa matched Nigeria’s energy, but it was the Falcons who had the last word.

With the game tied at 1-1 and heading towards extra time, Nigerian defender Michelle Alozie scored a stunning winner.

Her long-range ball into the South African box slipped past the goalkeeper and into the net.

The goal shocked the Banyana Banyana defense and sparked wild celebrations on the Nigerian bench.

Moreover, the team’s resilience and ability to rise in crucial moments was evident throughout the match.

Meanwhile, the Falcons will now wait to face either host nation Morocco or long-time rivals Ghana in the tournament’s final showdown.

The Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final is set to be a historic one for Nigeria.

Should the Super Falcons win, they will secure their 10th continental crown—further cementing their legacy as Africa’s most successful women’s team.

Furthermore, the President urged the team to maintain focus as they prepare for the final.

“Nigerians worldwide are rooting for you. We are waiting to receive the cup,” Tinubu added.

The performance, especially from key players like Alozie, showed the team’s hunger to reclaim the title.
