Tears as Former President Muhammadu Buhari Set for Burial in Daura Today

Nigeria is in mourning as the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari are set to be laid to rest today, July 14, in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State, in line with Islamic burial rites.

Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, at exactly 4:30 pm while receiving treatment at a clinic in London.

His death has thrown the nation into grief, with tributes pouring in from leaders and citizens alike.

The late president was reportedly battling an undisclosed illness before his passing.

In response to the tragic news, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took swift action.

He deployed Vice President Kashim Shettima to London to accompany Buhari’s body back to Nigeria for his final journey home.

This gesture by the current administration has been described as a sign of honour and respect for the late elder statesman.

According to reports, the former President’s remains will arrive in Nigeria early Monday morning.

Local authorities in Katsina have already begun preparations to receive the body and ensure a peaceful ceremony.

Flags have been flown at half-mast in several locations, while citizens hold prayer sessions for the repose of his soul.

Security has also been strengthened in and around the Daura community to manage the crowd and movement.
