Suspected Bomb Explosion Rocks Islamic School in FCT

A suspected bomb explosion at Tsangagyar Sani Uthman Islamiyya School in Kuchibuyi Village, Bwari Area Council, has left two people dead and others injured.

The tragic incident occurred on January 6, 2025, at approximately 11:00 AM, prompting an immediate response from the FCT Police Command and its Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team.

The area was swiftly cordoned off to ensure public safety and allow for investigations. 

According to preliminary findings, three men from Katsina State visited the school’s owner, Mallam Adamu Ashimu, and are suspected of bringing the improvised explosive device (IED).

Tragically, two of the men died while tampering with the device on the school’s veranda. 

A third suspect and a female trader sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving treatment under police guard. 

Confirming the cause, the FCT Bomb Squad recovered remnants of the IED, verifying the explosion was deliberate and possibly premeditated. 

Mallam Adamu Ashimu has been taken into police custody for further questioning as investigations continue. 

Meanwhile, FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, has urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities or objects to law enforcement.

 “We call on the public to stay alert and report any unusual behavior or items that may resemble explosive devices,” Disu stated. 

Emergency helplines have also been provided for quick reporting of potential threats, ensuring timely intervention to prevent further incidents. 

Authorities have advised residents to avoid tampering with suspicious objects, maintain community vigilance, and ensure all emergency numbers are readily available. 

Residents have also been encouraged to collaborate with neighbors to improve local security networks.

further occurrences and safeguard lives.
