Nigerian singer Skales has strongly denied a viral rumour that claimed he divorced his wife over a social media comment.
The false information was spread through a tweet on X (formerly Twitter), where an anonymous user alleged the singer made harsh remarks about his marriage.
However, Skales has come forward to debunk the claim, calling it completely false and malicious.
The post, which has gained wide attention online, falsely quoted Skales as saying:

“I divorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don’t regret it. When my wife made the comment on my post, I got angry.
People cannot be mocking your husband’s music career the music that is paying your bills and you join them.”
Skales, however, was quick to respond, clearly distancing himself from the statement.
“This is really evil of you that you would cook up such story and this is not fair. I have never made such statement and this is false… please stop spreading lies,” he wrote.
The singer’s reaction sheds light on how dangerous online misinformation has become.

False rumours about Skales have surfaced before, but this one struck a nerve due to its sensitive nature.
In addition, Skales’ marriage has previously made headlines.
In 2022, shortly after the death of his mother, he released a diss track that appeared to target his wife.
He later apologised publicly. Eventually, the couple resolved their issues and welcomed their first child in March 2023.
Meanwhile, fans have continued to express disappointment over the spread of false content online.
